Has anyone else been prescribed Ritalin along with an AD for anxiety or depression? But my doctor actually suggested the Ritalin to help me with my weight gain on my AD as well, so I'm in the same boat as you on that one :)My shrink is talking about adding Ritallin to me, but it's prohibited here so we need to think a way out. I have to say it really helped to get me going in the morning.Ritalin IS technically an antidepressant by definition in pharmacology.I've been in cymbalta, cipram and on Zyban (this last one to keep me awake).
I can't say that it does much.
I took it with bupropion, an AD, but just for few days: it made me hyperfocused and it didn't improve my mood. I'm not new to DF, but I'm new to this part of the forum. I LOVED the combination, the adderall helped my focus and helped an extra boost in my mood, helped motivate me, as well as overtaking any drowsiness i would have had with my AD. GO figure the one that actually works. I recommend it for sure. I have a hard time also getting out of bed, what I do is put my pills next to my bed and a bottle of water, I set my alarm for about an hour before I want to be up, take the medicine, and in an hour I am more than ready to get up. Right now I'm on Remeron which probably is the only one that has come close to helping with my depression symptoms, but along with it came weight gain that was too much for me. The doctor has now prescribed me Ritalin 20mg daily to help with the weight gain, and has also told me it's supposed to be effective with an AD for the treatment of depression. I am currently in the worst bout of depression I've had in ages. Not only that, kids at school as thought I was a little strange because of the way I looked with a little glazed-over in the eyes.
Just a thought...I take Ritalin 5 mg am and 5 mg pm in addition to my other meds. I myself had a terrible experience with Ritalin, but it definitely doesn't mean that it's typical for everyone. But Wellbutrin is really not making effect anymore.
